Machine in My Mind

I remember when I used to play music on my Yamaha PSR, or on my Ensoniq ESQ-1 and loved the fact that I could write lyrics to the music I created. I would always start off with the words based on a drum beat or rhythm that I heard in a song and write the words in the same tempo.

Here is one of the old ones that I remember. I think I was a sophomore in High School when I wrote this.

Machine in My Mind

Shadowed nights of bewildered lights
Glaze under the door
Intensified and paralyzed
By strangers I have known

When will end, when will it begin
Can I see through time
I can see me changing myself
In the machine of my mind

Sorting through the worlds
Of weapons from childhood
My strings are cut the door is shut
I’ve finally understood

That I….. can fly
Between the sea and the sky
In the machine of my mind

I….. can fly.
Between the sea and the sky
In the machine of my mind.
